Lueders is a Texas limestone, and our yard carries it in three chopped grades: Lueders Buff, Lueders Blue Charcoal and Lueders Antique. Buff runs from a light buff through tan and caramel, blue charcoal reads cool and silver-gray, and the antique face carries a weathered texture.

In slab form the same limestone arrives in buff, blue, Montana brown and cream, either natural or honed. Colors within a grade are fairly consistent, though the variation across a pallet is part of what buyers are choosing.

How Do Chopped Stone and Slabs Differ on the Same Project?

Chopped Lueders is a wall and column material, dry stacked or mortared, and our chopped Lueders grades stock in four, six and eight inch heights, with ten and twelve inch pieces on special order in each grade's mix.

Lueders slabs are a flat material sold for wall caps, pool coping, hearths, steps and outdoor countertops. Naming both on one order keeps the color range consistent across a wall and its cap.

Which Slab Thickness Belongs on the Order?

Lueders slabs run 1.25 inches and 2.25 inches thick in our yard. The thinner slab suits mortared caps, hearths and countertops, where the piece sits fully supported underneath.

The thicker slab suits treads, coping and any piece that spans an opening or takes an edge load. Thickness also moves the tonnage, so the number settled here carries through to the quantity on the quote.

How Much Lueders Stone Does a Project Take?

Slab and flagstone material sells by the ton, with coverage of up to 100 square feet per ton depending on thickness. Length times width in feet gives the square footage, and our materials calculator turns those dimensions into tons before anyone picks up the phone.

Chopped stone works differently, quoted against wall face footage and the piece height chosen. A six inch course covers a wall face faster than a four inch course, which is why the height and the tonnage get settled together.

What Should a Buyer Confirm Before a Load Leaves the Yard?

Confirm the grade and color range across every pallet on the order, because stone pulled from different runs can read differently in daylight. Confirm the piece height for chopped stone and the thickness for slabs, in inches, on the paperwork.

Confirm the tonnage and how the order is packed, since pallet counts and loose pieces load onto a truck differently. Those three lines are what a driver and a crew both work from.

When Should a Fall Project Be Ordered?

Our delivery window runs three to five business days from February through August and at least three business days from September through January. Same day delivery may be possible on in stock items and nearby jobs, and delivery is scheduled Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM.

Fall builds that settle the spec and the tonnage in September sit at the shorter end of that window. Waiting until a crew is already mobilized is what turns a three day window into a delay.
